What makes OSI unique is not only what we do, but how we do it.
We teach the rising generation about the importance of philosophy, the principles of Objectivism, and related ideas for living fully and advancing liberty. We do so by meeting young people at their values and helping them to grow intellectually from there. We make it about them. Not about Ayn Rand. Not about us. Just about them and powerful ideas for improving their lives.
This “value-up” approach stands in contrast to a “top-down” approach. Rather than saying, “This philosophy is true and good, and here’s why you should study and embrace it . . . ,” we say, “Do you want to build a fulfilling career, develop wonderful relationships, and maximize your happiness? Do you want to support the social conditions on which such values depend? If so, let’s discuss principles and practices that can help you achieve these goals. Come engage with us. Put your mind to work. See what you think . . .”
In other words, we appeal to young people’s life-serving values and reasoning minds—never to authority.
If you appreciate OSI’s mission and our value-up approach, help us teach the rising generation about the ideas on which freedom and flourishing depend.
As Ayn Rand observed, “Anyone who fights for the future, lives in it today.” Let’s live in it together.
