Every major problem in our world today has its root in education.

In most Western countries, mainstream state education is heavily influenced by the “progressive” ideas popularized by the early 20th century philosopher and education reformer John Dewey. He rejected the idea that the purpose of education was to prepare individuals to succeed in life, saying, “Education is a social process; education is growth; education is not preparation for life.” Rather, he regarded it as something that “has no end beyond itself; it is its own end.” However, he also argued that education, done according to his philosophy, serves a social purpose of preparing people to fulfill a supposed function in society.
